SS Red Oak Victory

Turn back the clock to the 1950s at the Red Oak Victory Jazz Lounge!

On September 2, the Red Oak Victory will ring with the cool sounds of blue-note era jazz performed by the John Kalleen Group. In an atmosphere reminiscent of a 1950s supper club you’ll eat dinner, enjoy a drink, dance, and listen to the timeless sounds of American jazz. There will also be classic cars and hotrods from the 50s and 60s on display plus, of course, the famous Red Oak Victory historic ship and surrounding World War II shipyard. Red Oak is the last of the 747 ships built at the Kaiser-Richmond shipyards for the war effort. She served not only in World War II but also saw service in Korea, as a commercial vessel in the 1950s, and as a part of the Military Sealift Command in the Vietnam War. She floats proudly near where she was built in 1944 and continues her service now as a museum ship. Your tour of the ship includes the Captain’s quarters, the bridge, the original and fully operational radio room, the galley, the cargo holds, and the spectacular engine room. For $60 per person you will receive admission to the Red Oak Victory historic ship, dinner, one glass of beer or wine, and dancing or just listening, with the John Kalleen Group.
